Our Earth is facing lot of trouble because of us, humans. Technology and innovations are advancing day by day. Humans have created unimaginable inventions and are still focusing on creating more. Although we are excelling in inventions, we lag behind to protect the place where we live, that is why we are desperately innovating, planning and creating remarkable innovations to reduce plastic pollution, green gas emissions, water usage, and fossil fuel consumption to help our planet from all the sufferings we have put on her, all the way through.
Pete Ceglinski and Andrew Turto invented the Seabin, an amazing garbage collector. The Seabin works automatically throughout a day, 7 days a week and works simply. It has a pump that creates a flow of water and the garbage is caught in a bag, allowing water to flow back to the sea.
According to International Organization Greenpeace, almost 100 million tones of plastic are produced each year and around 10 million tones plastic end up in the sea, which is toxic to the marine life and ecosystem. That’s why this invention, biodegradable and edible six-pack rings, is created to save them.
Firstly, the experiment was done using seaweed, but soon it was too rigid outside of water, means it might choke or cut animals. Later, the experimental team moulded wheat and barley into a typical six-pack rings shape. It is edible by the sea animals and also dissolves in the sea.
World has grown exponentially in the last few decades at the cost environmental degradation – air pollution. Air-Ink is the first ink that is made out of air pollution. It can turn air pollution into ink.
R. Bunkminster Fuller has said:
“Pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to disperse because we’ve been ignorant of their value”
Now, Humans have successfully tested to control air pollution through Air-Ink. Air-Ink collects carbon soot from a car’s exhaust and then it is processed into a high quality black ink.
To protect the freshness of water it is our duty to make clean and fresh water. Nowadays, a lot of waste materials are thrown into the ocean and those effects on the marine life. To protect the marine life and save our planet humans have made Ocean Cleanup. This machine has a giant floating pipe to capture plastic. The pipe moves with the waves and has floating anchors and all the plastic are gathered in the center of boat to remove. It’s just one anchor, two lines and one barrier connecting them and a central passive collection point for the plastic.
The definition of Aquaponics is the combination of fish farming and hydroponics (the soil-less growing of plants) that grow fish and plants in one integrated system. Aquaponics can be used to sustainably raise fresh fish and vegetables for a family, to feed a village or to generate some profit in a commercial farming venture in any climate.
Here is the process how Aquaponics works;
- Firstly, fishes eat and grow, and then they produce waste
- The waste water is given to plants as a Fertilizers
- The plants absorb the nutrients in the water and they are turned to the fish tanks.
This is natural process for growing fresh food.
Increasing the number of mitigation measures is indeed beneficial; however, to have significant positive results, it is necessary to control the existing toxic activities that humans have been doing for years.
