10 Other-Worldly Medical Methods Out there

The blind patients with damaged eye tissue received a treatment based on the procedure called Oeteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis. This process involves pulling out one of your teeth and implanting it in your damaged eye.

Medicinal development has evolved a lot over the years. Even after such discovers made in history do you still trust your doctors?

There are many stories of hilarious medical inadequacy throughout history. In all probability, today’s medical practices will be similarly uttered at 100 years down the road. Many practices have since been discontinued or debunked. But people still believe in the positive healing benefits granted upon them.In other words. There are some unusual medicinal practices in the area of medicine that we’re using today.

These are 10 of the most peculiar medical treatments of our times.

1. Cryotherapy Used To Fight Skin Cancer

The scientific research which concerns a particular area that deals with extremely low temperatures is known as Cryogenics. A Cryogenic chamber has heard of the recent craze in the hopes of being resuscitated by superior technology in the future.

Cryotherapy has mostly been used in current medicine. It is being increasingly used to cure diseases such as skin cancer. This procedure largely consists of putting liquid nitrogen on a piece of cotton and bid it in to the overdone area.

The part of skin tended with this method cannot be looked at or studied under a microscope because the frozen nitrogen literally burns it, this is the only catch. An accurate biopsy of the diseased tissue after the treatment is hard to grasp.

You can expect pain and blisters for days due to the burning but there are a few side effects. A little disfiguration is nothing compared to an effective treatment for cancer although there may be potential scars.

2.Therapy on Rebirth

This is a therapy in which you pass through a very compact area in order to recreate your birth. It is exactly like it sounds. The procedure is supposed to refresh your senses and it makes you undergo the miracle of infancy again.

This particular therapy involves being passed through pillows which are pressed together by the therapists. It helps to replicate the birth canal. The part of the process involves the breathing being difficult in the middle of it.

The law enforcement thinks it sounds a bit uncanny as well. This procedure has a lot of controversies attached to it. There are quite a few of people who have supposedly died from it in the past as well.

The fact of breathing as being mentioned earlier maybe a fact that triggered this particular response. The therapy is illegal in Colorado and North Carolina because of the outcome.

3. Symphysiotomy

Symphysiotomy is a method by which the pelvis of a pregnant woman is manually widened. This allows for childbirth in tendering the lieu of a caesarean section.Saws are used to cut it wide enough for the child to pass through comfortably in areas without relevant medical equipment.

The procedure was widely used by Irish doctors between the 1940’s and 1980’s. This might sound something from the medieval history. The consequences were often horrendous as the women were not told in advance what the doctors intended to do.

All the things you expect from having your body cut up with a saw happened to the victims. The victims weren’t able to walk and they also developed infections and back problems. There are plenty of survivor groups fighting for justice even till date but the issue has come to public light only recently.

More survivors are now coming out with their stories in light of the increased media attention. Some medical bodies have given their apologies to the victims.

4.Finding Tooth in Eye Surgery

The blind patients with damaged eye tissue received a treatment based on the procedure called Oeteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis. This process involves pulling out one of your teeth and implanting it in your damaged eye.

The transplant is based on the idea that once the body became aware of a tooth say a mechanical implant, the body won’t reject it.

A part of the jawbone is surgically separated for the procedure and then they also drill a hole through the tooth to hold a prosthetic lens.

The doctors can replace the tooth with an artificial hold once the transplant is made successfully and it also has to be accepted as a part of the body.

Although it has helped a number of people regain their eyesight, this procedure has not yet become widespread.

The doctors who perform this surgery have had a fair range of success. It might be fairly common in the future as well.

5.Malaria Injections

Julius Wagner-Jauregg was the first out of three people to have ever received a Nobel Prize in the field of Psychiatry.

Wagner-Juaregg infected the patients with malaria to cure diseases like syphilis. He was one of the few psychiatrists to treat his patients through biological medium.

The psychiatric asylums in early 20th-century Austria, was handled by one of the doctors in charge. The patients were coming with a range of illnesses like pneumonia and typhoid.

He started experimenting by deliberately giving people malaria to see its effects or consequences. He was inspired by all of these cases. He also conducted test on other unrelated diseases which predominately turned out to be successful.

At the same time as Sigmund Freud was getting famous for his psychoanalysis Wagner-Juaregg also came in action.

Both of them were from Austria. But Freud never won a Nobel price. His psychoanalytic approach to psychiatry had become more popular than Juaregg’s biological one while looking at the rest of the world.

6.The G Shot

G-Spot Activation therapy is for you if you want your G-spot to perform better than it usually does.

A guy can easily locate the G spot by literally increasing its size. They inject the G-spot with chemicals to artificially increase its size for a healthier sex life after numbing it with the help of anesthesia.

You shouldn’t have any problems like allergies or a loose vagina while performing this therapy. You should also be a sexually functioning female who is very aware of her G spot as the criteria for getting the injection is quite strict.

You can probably get back to having sex within hours of receiving the shot as the procedure is very brief.

In a study done on women who had gotten the procedure about 87 percent were found to be satisfied with their results. This therapy has been surprisingly successful. After this therapy they are found to have better orgasms, increased libido, and a general improvement in their sex lives.7.Bee Sting Therapy

It’s no fun getting stung by a bee but evidently it’s good for you. The idea is based around the idea of finding medical uses for bees and some of that may include letting them sting you. This therapy is called Apitherapy.

An actual live bee is held near the skin by tweezers and forced to sting the patient. The Professionals don’t even go through the trouble of injecting the bee venom with a needle.

Some of the treatments also requires them getting stung about 80 times a day. The bees are often times found being raised by the patients.

The earliest examples of the use of bee venom come from the ancient Egyptians who used it to treat arthritis. Seemingly bee venom can be beneficial against arthritic pain and inflammation. They have long been used against these ailments.

It’s catching up as a attainable therapy for problems related to pain like multiple sclerosis and tendonitis. The patients have often reported positive results from the treatment.

8.Desert Sand Trap

It’s an ancient belief that the hot sand of the desert has some sort of medicinal properties in Siwa which is an oasis in the city of Cairo, Egypt.Travelers and locals on a routinely basis allow themselves to be buried in the desert and get rid of their body of skin problems and other diseases.

Firstly they dig up a hole in the ground in the morning which allows it to absorb all the good rays of the Sun. At about 2:00 PM the patient has to lie down in the Sun-soaked hole. The treatment will be more effective if the desert is hotter. They also cover the whole body with sand except for the head. The sand is kept in the shade by blankets set on a couple of sticks.

The ground may get damp with sweat. The wet sand can be replaced with dry and hot sand to keep the procedure on going.

9.Three Parent Babies

Using three people to make a baby has increasingly been seen as a legitimate practice. It is relatively a new procedure.

Though it has been bogged up in controversy over time several countries are currently in consideration over the fact whether or not they will allow three-parent embryos.

The major drawback of this experiment is that it would give parents the ability to prevent genetic diseases from passing on to their offspring.

Nuclear DNA from the mother is being dumped into a donor’s egg which has been cleared to leave only healthy mitochondrial DNA in this procedure.

The father’s sperm is found being added and also the baby is born with genetic material from the mother, father and the donor as well.

The mitochondrial DNA from a mother carries genetic diseases, if that taken out of the picture the baby is born healthy. Because of this fact the experimentation works.

Nuclear DNA is found to carry the traits like eye and hair color so the baby will still adequately be the offspring of the true parents.

This procedure is found to be done through in vitro fertilization. The embryo otherwise grows up normally.

The procedure has had its share of problems as well. It can raise questions on whether we should be tinkering with our original design.

It can really help the large number of people who suffer from genetic disorders.

Researchers also have the belief that the three-way fertilization can revolutionize the medical field.  The opposing people however say that if the procedure becomes widely accepted the next step can only be human cloning. Notwithstanding this fact the three-way fertilization doesn’t involve genetic modification.

10.Laughter Therapy

Raising your hands in the air and laughing like a maniac is an increasingly popular therapy found in countries like India.

Laughter has always been known to be good for the body.

Dr. Madan Kataria in 1970s Mumbai made a lot of effort and largely expanded this therapy. He along with his disciples can be credited with bringing laughter into mainstream medicine.

Kataria set up the first “laughter group” 40 years ago. This therapy was always done in a huge group.

There are currently about 5,000 different groups around the world dedicated to just laughing together.

According to research it is indicated that laughter helps the body produce more warrior cells to fight off diseases. So, this therapy cannot exactly be called a scheme.
