How has the Season 8 of GOT angered fans?

The episode 3 of Season 8: The Long Night was a really dark episode for a TV show! And by dark, we mean literally!

With the most final episode of the entire Game of Thrones series pending next week, a petition has begun for HBO to remake the entire series. A GoT fan named Dylan D. initially started the petition after the release of episode 7 on change.org asking HBO to “remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers”.

The petition began with a complaint about the writers that read, ‘David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on’.The petition has now garnered over 238,000 signatures and more frustrated fans are joining in by the minute.

The series, which has been followed religiously by fans for the past 8 years, released its eighth and final season after a two year production period. Anyone would have expected the series to be well written and beyond imagination when the season is the most expensive one that HBO has produced in its entire history.  The final season, however, is full of anything but blunders that show the hastiness and carelessness of the production crew of the series, like the Starbucks cup in the historic series’ scene.

The episode 7 alone has gotten more backlash than the entire series combined.’This series deserves a final season that makes sense,’ Dylan said,’Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!’ But exactly how has the season 8 of GoT angered fans? Spoilers ahead!

Unlike the earlier seasons, the sixth, seventh and eighth seasons are not based on the book. The fans believe that the writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are taking the script too fast in the race towards the end. Some say that they are more focused on their next project of Star Wars:Rise of Skywalker and did not do justice in writing the episodes of the final season.

The episode 3 of Season 8, The Long Night, was a really dark episode for a TV show! And by dark, we mean literally! The fans had a hard time adjusting their screen lights while trying to get a glimpse of how the Battle of Winterfell unfolded. All the favorite characters were thrown into the battlefield and faced situations that the fans could not see, because it was a dark long night!

Many were furious regarding the easy death of the Night King, one of the most powerful characters, at the hands of Arya Stark. Other plots were also quite confusing such as how and why Arya Stark was the sole survivor of Daenerys’ fire attack on King’s Landing, where everything was burnt to the ground in her fight for the throne.

Considering that HBO has spent $15 million on each of the episodes of the season, the chances that fans will get a remake are close to none. Regardless, the production crew have been made aware that the fans are not very happy with the season.

Fans hope HBO learns to respect fans who have invested 7 years of their lives into the show . Hopefully, they would not make mistakes like leaving a Starbucks cup in or leaving a golden hand out of the frame of a historic plot in their future projects.
